I&#039;m not against monetizing your social media presence on principle, but I write primarily for small biz owners who are running a business and using social media and blogging as a means of marketing their business. So many are concerned with how to &quot;monetize&quot; their blogs and such that they get distracted from their actual business plan. 

If you have a high profile presence and want to monetize your feed with ads of various sorts, it&#039;s legit as long as you disclose what you&#039;re doing. But if you&#039;re a small business owner who sells books or consulting or houses, etc, and you&#039;re so concerned with making a few bucks here and there that you resort to blasting affiliate links to your list of 200 people, you&#039;re barking up the wrong tree :-)</description>

		<description>It really depends on the magnitude of this.  This post sounds a little bitter and misguided.  I think there are plenty of opportunities to capitalize on those mediums, but you have to build your brand - which is probably different than what you were trying to get across in this post... but I feel it came across wrong.</description>
