Oh, dear. You really hit the spot here and clarified a lot of issues. I totally agree with Jeremy, though, that the number ten is the most common (and should I say, annoying) mistake a lot of budding marketers commit. Again, nothing can come for free, people! Some effort and patience are required to actually have something.
Thanks for sharing this. Cheers! :)

Thanks Jeremy. I dig your comment to be patient but still expect results...don't wait forever! Results are required, but we're all so impatient these days. I honestly think a lot of people quit just a little soon soon. It's a shame when that happens.

What can I say, these are common myths and mistakes a marketers commits. I like #10.. Many marketers wants to see a fast result but the truth is its not achieved by one snap of a finger or a blink of an eye. As the saying goes , patience is a virtue but you must not wait forever. Just keep track and eventually it will be rewarding at the end.

If you're brand new in business and already building your online presence, you're a smart individual! I suppose my #5 was mostly directed at business owners I work with who have been in business for years, and they're spending all this time studying SEO and such. I applaud the ingenuity and willingness to learn new things, but at the same time it needs to be tempered a bit. There's a difference between knowing something is important and focusing all your time on it. Business owners should focus on content and interacting with their community. It looks like you're doing that, so cash flow will likely not be a problem forever : )

Great article. I think the most important thing to remember is that marketing isn't one dimensional. Website, blogging, social media are all fantastic ways of creating your online presence. The key is to be actively and positively involved, and int time the results can be fantastic.

I fall prey to #5 the most - trying to do too much myself. It's hard in the beginning when cashflow is tight.
