Dave - great point about setting a timer. I *try* to never get online without a clear goal. Get your stuff done, then get out. I prefer to spend time writing, networking, with family and playing music. If I don't have a plan, I get sucked into watching bevis and butthead videos on youtube or some stupid crap like that :) Set a timer and get it done!

Great blog post Christian. I always need to be reminded to cut out the 80% of "junk" I spend my time on. Email checking is the worst! Check 2 times per day and set a timer! It works.

Cheers

Christian, this is of my favorite time/life management rules. I think it was 2008 I hear about this, I was reading a blog post about the 2 hour work day(no..not 4HWW). I have to admit, as simple as the rule is, it really confused me at first. After reading 4HWW last month it all came back to me...I fell back into the rut of doing everything. So I started applying the rule again to my work and life, seems to have helped quite a bit.

Elimination rules!...the less you have to focus on, the more you get done.

Regards,
Clinton Skakun

Awesome, Nick! I'm glad you like this post...good call on 4HWW. If anyone knows how to implement the 80-20 rule, it's Tim Ferriss.

Chris, the first time I heard of this was recently in the 4HWW book and I must say since reading it, I've put some major thought into. I can honestly say that I've quickly figured a lot of my 80/20's and have already started taking action against my negatives

thanks for a great post! I'm going to start following you more closely now.
